It has been a pleasure to work with the team at Res Nova Law while setting up our living trust. I interviewed a few firms and chose Susan Ford due to her knowledge, background in corporation, and I loved how straight forward she is.
Susan met with us to explain our options and was very patient with us since this is the first time PROPERLY setting up a Will, Trust, fully detailed Health Directives. I emphasize ‘properly’ for a reason. The DIY online forms are NOT enough to protect you and your family. Oh the utter headache that can happen if it’s not setup right. Avoid the loopholes that could tie things up in probate.
I thought I was organized UNTIL I had to check off their list. Oh my, there are things we don’t think about but the legal pros do!
If I had questions the team answered them faster than I expected. We have needed to make changes along the way and it’s been no problem. I also love the fact that they will check in with us in a few years for any updates (if I don’t give it to them first). By the end of the entire process, I could have sat and chatted with Vanessa for hours. Instead we hugged and off I went with the 4″ Estate Planning Portfolio, which is spelled out beautifully simple for our chosen people to handle our affairs with as much ease as possible.
One word of warning and this has nothing to do with the firm.
Be aware you may go through a bumpy emotional experience while you start gathering your life of numbers, assets, accounts, chosen people. It unlocked some deep rooted feelings neither of us consciously realized. Be patient with yourself and your mate, take time to process it. Think about why you are doing this and who it’s really for. You worked really hard to make sure you are taken care of and when you are dead, it goes to the people you love, not the govt. 😉
